Water Conservation
Water is a precious and limited resource, especially here in the high desert. Even small steps to conserve water can add up. Please join us in taking action to preserve our limited water supplies.
On February 15, 2023, the State of Oregon declared a drought emergency for Crook County due to a combination of low snowpack, reservoir levels, streamflow, and precipitation levels coupled with high temperatures. These conditions are negatively impacting Crook County residents and industries.
Although our region is experiencing a drought, the City of Prineville anticipates that municipal water supply will be sufficient due to its reliable sources of groundwater. Nevertheless, reducing our water use is still important in these drought conditions. The City of Prineville encourages you to help our community conserve water by taking actions to use water more efficiently. Check out our water conservation tips, free water conservation items, and Irrigation System Rebates program.
Free Water Conservation Items
The City offers the following free items to help you conserve water:
- Lawn watering gauges to help you determine how much water your grass needs
- Leak detection tablets for checking for leaks in toilets
- Water-efficient bathroom faucet aerators to reduce water use in your bathroom
- Water-efficient showerheads to help you use less water without reducing water pressure
Pick up yours at City Hall, 387 NE Third Street.
