Prineville Police Department – Records Division

The Records Department is available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
For non-emergency assistance, please call (541) 447-4168 and select Option 2 for Records.

Responsibilities:

  • Records personnel provide front desk customer service and respond to phone inquiries from the public. Their duties include:
  • Maintaining, filing, and storing police records
  • Processing case reports and citations
  • Preparing documents for the District Attorney’s Office and the courts
  • Responding to records requests from the public and other agencies

Records Requests:

Police reports are released in accordance with Oregon Public Records Law and Prineville Police Department policy.
Please note the following:

  • All records requests must be made in writing
  • Reports from ongoing investigations or those not yet approved through the chain of command will not be released
  • A fee is charged for copies of police reports

How to Submit a Request:

Requests may be submitted on the Prineville Police Department records request form:

  • In person: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM excluding holidays

  • By fax: (541) 447-8619 

 

Property & Evidence

 The Evidence Technician is responsible for storing and safeguarding evidence, found property, relinquished property, and property for safekeeping.  The Evidence Technician assists in processing crimes scenes including the gathering, processing, storage and retrieval of evidence. 

Hours to obtain property from the Prineville Police Department's Evidence Room are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m,  Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. 

 Property is returned by appointment only!

Please follow the below guidelines for ease in obtaining your property.

*Make an appointment with our Evidence Technician prior to coming to the Police Department.  You can reach the Evidence Technician by calling 541-447-4168, option 3

*Bring photo identification.

PLEASE NOTE: Property cannot be released without prior approval from the Investigating Officer, District Attorney or Court.  The Evidence Tech will not release any property without authorization from the above listed sources.
