Larry Gerke appointed to Railroad Advisory Committee
Prineville, Oregon - March 17, 2016
Larry Gerke, longtime employee of Les Schwab Tire Centers, has been appointed to the City of Prineville’s Railroad Advisory Committee as the Shipping Representative. Gerke has over 20 years of experience in transportation and logistics with Les Schwab.
Gerke is filling the position held for over a decade by Mike Ervin, another longtime Schwab employee
who retired recently. Ervin will stay on the Committee, however, as a citizen representative. Les Schwab continues to be the largest shipper on the City of Prineville Railroad and the relationship developed over many years between Schwab employees and the City of Prineville is unprecedented.
The Railroad Advisory Committee is an advisory committee to the Prineville City Council. It has the authority to explore any areas of railroad operation or finance that it deems proper. There are seven members of the Committee and each serves a two-year term. It meets and reports to the City Council quarterly.
Other members of the Committee include Prineville’s City Manager Steve Forrester, Matt Wiederholt with the City of Prineville Railroad, City Councilor Steve Uffelman, and Jerry Evans who holds the finance position.
