Assistant City Engineer Hired
Mike Kasberger has been tapped to become the City of Prineville’s Assistant City Engineer. Born and raised in Prineville, Kasberger graduated from Crook County High School and holds a degree in Construction Engineering Management from Oregon State University.
Kasberger has been the Manager of the Ochoco Irrigation District in Prineville for the past eight and a half years. Prior to that role he served as the District Engineer with the Central Oregon Irrigation District in Redmond.
In his new role with the City, Kasberger will be responsible for structural and transportation engineering work related to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of traffic operations/safety, capital improvements, storm water, and water and sewer. Kasberger will report to City Engineer/Public Works Director Eric Klann. Kasberger’s employment will start on January 4th, 2016.
“Mike has a great deal of experience as a construction engineering manager, everything from building jetties in Alaska to big highway projects in Southern California, so he was head and shoulders above the other candidates that we interviewed,” said Eric Klann.
Kasberger is excited by the challenge, particularly about getting back into engineering and construction. “Many of the projects that the City has coming up are very innovative and interesting and I’m ready to get back into the construction field.”
Mayor Betty Roppe is also excited about Kasberger joining the engineering team. “Eric Klann has been very busy this year and we’ve been anxious to get an Assistant Engineer on the team. So I’m very excited about Mike coming on board because I know this will enable us to handle all of the exciting projects we have slated for the near future.”
Kasberger lives in Prineville with his wife, Christine, a teacher at Crook County High School, and their three girls.
