Reserve Officers

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Be of good moral character
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of initial testing.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must pass POST written test
  • Must pass ORPAT (physical agility test)
  • Must pass extensive background investigation
  • Must pass psychological examination and medical exam
  • Must be certifiable as a police officer in the State of Oregon

Disqualifications:

The following will disqualify you from being hired as a Prineville Reserve Police Officer:

  • Felony conviction
  • Misdemeanor conviction for:
    • Domestic violence (DV);
    • Crime of dishonesty; and/or,
    • Crime that resulted in serious physical injury to another. 
  • Illegal manufacture, transport, or sale of a controlled substance.

 Additional Information:

  • Reserve Police Officers must serve at least 16 hours per month
  • Reserve Officers must complete a 395 hour Reserve Police Academy
  • Prineville Police Department provides uniforms and equipment
