RECORDS

 The records department is staffed Monday- Friday from 8am to 5pm.   The Prineville Police Department's general or non-emergency line:  541-447-4168

 The records personnel are responsible for answering all non-emergency calls coming into the Police Department and provide customer assistance for the public who visit.

The records staff is responsible for records maintenance, filing and storage of police reports, processing documents, and communication with the public.  This includes processing case reports and citations, preparing documents for the District Attorney's Office and court, and responding to records requests from outside agencies and the public. 

The Prineville Police Department releases police reports to the general public in accordance with the State of Oregon Public Records Law and Police Department policy.  All records request must be made in writing.  Ongoing investigation and reports not yet approved by the chain of command will not be released.

Records requests may be made in person Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm,  by e-mail to records@prinevillepd.org, or by faxing a copy of a Prineville Police Department records request form to 541-447-8619.

PLEASE NOTE:  There is a fee associated with receiving a copy of any police report.

 

Property & Evidence

 The Evidence Technician is responsible for storing and safeguarding evidence, found property, relinquished property, and property for safekeeping.  The Evidence Technician assists in processing crimes scenes including the gathering, processing, storage and retrieval of evidence. 

Hours to obtain property from the Prineville Police Department's Evidence Room are 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.  Property is returned by appointment only!

Please follow the below guidelines for ease in obtaining your property.

*Make an appointment with our Evidence Technician prior to coming to the Police Department.  You can reach the Evidence Technician by calling 541-447-4168. 

*Bring photo identification.

PLEASE NOTE: Property cannot be released without prior approval from the Investigating Officer, District Attorney or Court.  The Evidence Tech will not release any property without authorization from the above listed sources.
